I went to Liverpool !
I am choked!
I didn't imagine how beautiful this city is before, I always heard about this city because of Beatles, and the travel was all about the Beatles. We went for just 2 days :( I wish I could stay for more time!
Once there I saw many other things to do for non-Beatles maniacs! The city is gorgeous, many modern buildings mixed with old buildings.
And I didn't knew about that but it is an "party city". I met a guy in the hostel, who said he was there to celebrate his friend birthday, and the night clubs are insane!
We were hosted at the HOAX hostel (£29.00) at Mathew Street, the famous street of the Cavern Club where the Beatles played for 292 times, from February 1961 to August 1963, in the beginning of their career. The hostel was fine, the decoration was really nice and the food was delicious!
So we arrived on Saturday by bus, it was my first experience with the famous Mega bus ( tickets 10,00£) I knew that travels by bus are always late so we departed at "eight something" from Victoria Station and arrived at 14:30, and our tour was at 15:00, it was funny - we had to run behind the Magical Mystery Tour bus!
The Magical Mystery Tour bus (£15.00) departs from The Albert Dock, a stunning place. I will come back to talk about it;
"The tour starts at the Tourist Information Centre at Albert Dock and takes you to see the Beatles childhood homes, schools and colleges and you'll get up close to the places that inspired some of their most memorable songs - Penny Lane and Strawberry Field...
You’ll be kept entertained along the way by one of our professional Beatles Guides and some Fab Four tunes.
The tour finishes at the legendary Cavern Club where you can enjoy some live music from the Cavern's resident musicians. Your tour ticket also gives you free admission to the Cavern Club to return in the evening!"
-- Text from their web site.
After that we rested for a while and went to THE CAVERN CLUB! We had tickets to the Saturday night with Beatles (£15.00) where people can watch a concert by a cover band!
In the next day we went to the main shop street, their Lego store is gigantic! After that, at the Albert Dock we visited the Liverpool Museum, I do recommend this museum - it is very well designed and organized.
And to finish, the Beatles Story museum! Where they show their history chronologically. http://www.beatlesstory.com/
The hostel is in the way to the bus stop so it helped logistically.
The places we did not have the time to visit were the Anglican Cathedral, the Liverpool stadium and the Chinese Museum.
I want to come back with my parents or somebody who enjoys Beatles or not! hahahaha let's go?
PS: The food is cheaper than London
I hope it helps!
Bye, see you next post.
