Vintage Stores 1

Hello there!<br /> London and surroundings are full of these stores, some of them very nice. Today I will talk about three of them:<a href="http://www.absolutevintage.co.uk/">Absolute Vitage</a> , <a href="http://www.beyondretro.com/">Beyondretro</a> and <a href="http://www.rokit.co.uk/">Rokit</a> .<br /> <br /> I visited the store Absolute Vintage in 15 Hanbury Street, (Shoreditch) It is a very good store but it is always full, and the prices are high, because everybody goes there. They don't allow taking pictures.<br /> <br /> Rokkit is a small but good store, they have a good website. I visited the store in 101 Brick Lane (Shoreditch)<br /> <br /> These pictures are in Beyond Retro Brighton, the biggest and the best store I saw there. Very good store, prices and staff.<br /> I promise to visit the other stores and come back here to tell how they are.<br /> <br /> Sometimes <a href="http://www.judysvintagefair.co.uk/city/london/">Judy's Vintage Fair</a> happens. Louboutin at Design Museum

Hello there!<br /> <br /> I'm still sighing about this exposition, the shoes are amazing pieces of art.<br /> <br /> The exposition graciously celebrates 20 years of Christian Louboutin's career.<br /> <br /> They have different spaces in the exposition divided between the main room with a lot of displays and one stage along the middle, one room about his history, one with a video of him dancing with Broadway dancers, a exposition about his studio and a fetish room - this one is very artistic. <br /> <br /> See this serie <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpoPWAWLtxQ">(Loubi Angels) </a><br /> <br /> After all that, when you come back to the main room, on the stage there is a presentation of Dita Von Teese with holographic system every 15 minutes and it is fantastic - very technologic. The exposition ticket is 11,00£. Is proibed take pictures.  <br /> <br /> You also can visit the rest of the museum :) with really nice well-designed pieces including the olympic torch. <br /> Design Museum is near Tower Bridge Station, you have to cross the bridge and it's by the river's edge.<br />  <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/fashion/2012/apr/30/christian-louboutin-exhibition-design-museum">The guardian:</a><br /> From the press conference podium Louboutin explains that one of the difficulties of the exhibition was that the shoes were necessarily seen as objects rather than being viewed worn. "When I am designing it starts from a sketch but is never complete until the moment of seeing it on someone's foot," he says.<br /> He also gave some clues as to what might be missing from the exhibition. Telling an anecdote from his time at the Folies Bergère where the showgirls would put veal carpaccio into their shoes for comfort (the lack of blood in the veal makes them more effective insoles apparently) he reiterated that while he wasn't against it in principle, he certainly didn't want his designs to evoke comfort first. The admission is 11.00£. These revealed Covent Garden as the centre of a trading town called <a class="mw-redirect" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lundenwic" title="Lundenwic">Lundenwic</a>, developed around 600 AD,<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-7"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-7"><span>[</span>8<span>]</span></a></sup> which stretched from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trafalgar_Square" title="Trafalgar Square">Trafalgar Square</a> to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldwych" title="Aldwych">Aldwych</a>.<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-Lund_1-1"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-Lund-1"><span>[</span>2<span>]</span></a></sup> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_the_Great" title="Alfred the Great">Alfred the Great</a> gradually shifted the settlement into the old Roman town of Londinium from around 886 AD onwards, leaving no mark of the old town, and the site returned to fields.<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-Clark_8-0"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-Clark-8"><span>[</span>9<span>]</span></a></sup><br /> Around 1200 the first mention of an abbey garden appears in a document mentioning a walled garden owned by the <a class="mw-redirect" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedictine_monk" title="Benedictine monk">Benedictine monks</a> of the Abbey of <a class="mw-redirect" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Peter,_Westminster" title="St. Peter, Westminster">St. Peter, Westminster</a>. A later document, dated between 1250 and 1283, refers to "the garden of the Abbot and Convent of Westminster".<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-Burford1_9-0"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-Burford1-9"><span>[</span>10<span>]</span></a></sup> By the 13th century this had become a 40-acre (16 ha) quadrangle of mixed orchard, meadow, pasture and arable land, lying between modern-day St. Martin's Lane and Drury Lane, and Floral Street and Maiden Lane.<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-10"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-10"><span>[</span>11<span>]</span></a></sup> The use of the name "Covent"—an Anglo-French term for a religious community, equivalent to "monastery" or "convent"<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-11"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covent_Garden#cite_note-11"><span>[</span>12<span>]</span></a></sup>—appears in a document in 1515, when the Abbey, which had been letting out parcels of land along the north side of the Strand for inns and market gardens, granted a lease of the walled garden, referring to it as "a garden called Covent Garden".
